Beginning in Kansas City and Oakland, he led the A's to the 1972, '73 & '74 World Series titles before being traded to Baltimore in 1976. Upon joining the New York Yankees via free agency in 1977, he led the Bronx Bombers to a World Series win that same year and again in 1978. In Game 6 of the 1978 World Series, Reggie hit three home runs to ice the championship for the Yankees, earning the nickname "Mr. October" for his postseason success.
