1952 Topps #243 Larry Doby PSA 8 NM-MT
DOBY ‘52 TOPPS!!!... Presented here is an outstanding PSA 8 NM-MT 1952 Topps #243 Larry Doby memento, only bested by nine examples on the illustrious PSA Pop Chart. Aside from his revered 1949 Bowman rookie card, no Larry Doby subject is more coveted than his 1952 Topps subject. Immortal HOFer Larry Doby was the inaugural African-American to play in the Junior Circuit, playing in his first MLB game with Cleveland on July 5, 1947, roughly three months after Jackie Robinson commenced his Brooklyn Dodgers career. His crystal-clear image boasts sparkling hues, with the snow-white borders, sharp edging, near-immaculate surfaces and square corners all justifying the lofty assessment. Pack-fresh to say the least, it was issued during the campaign that Doby would pace the AL with 32 homers and a .541 slugging percentage, conjuring up vivid memories of this Cooperstown inductee who turned the baseball world upside down via his historical signing with Cleveland owner Bill Veeck!
