1952 Topps #314 Roy Campanella PSA 8 NM-MT
1952 TOPPS CAMPY!!!... Only nine PSA examples have managed to achieve a higher assessment than this extremely elusive PSA 8 NM-MT 1952 Topps Roy Campanella high-number offering! Historically speaking, had it not been for "truckloads" of 1952 Topps high-number vending cases being dumped into the Atlantic's murky waters off of the coasts of New Jersey, the incredible mystique of the ‘52 Topps High-Number Series would have never been born. Unfortunately for Roy Campanella, his esteemed career was abruptly cut short due to his tragic car accident on January 28, 1958, leaving Campanella paralyzed for life.
Yet, his accomplishments still earned him a Cooperstown nod, with the HOF Dodger's catcher well represented via an incredible portrait image of the three-time MVP winner. Major highlights include crystal-clear clarity, a radiant yellow background, and atypical near-perfect centering (uncharacteristic for any '52 Topps Campanella since most subjects reveal severely skewed illustrations). Sharp corners, blinding white borders, and pack-fresh surfaces are the final exclamation points for this iconic keepsake that has withstood the test of time over the past 72 years!
