(LOT 253)
1939 Play Ball #26 Joe DiMaggio Signed Sample PSA 3 VG, Auto 10 GEM MINT

SIGNED SAMPLE!!!... When Joe DiMaggio made his big league debut in 1936, he was coming off three seasons with the San Francisco Seals in which he hit .340, 341 & .398 from 1933 to 1935. His presence in the Ruth-less lineup elevated the team back to first place as he batted .350 by mid-season, earning him an All-Star nod and the cover of Time Magazine. Joe D spent the next 13 seasons terrorizing American League pitchers, hitting .325 with 2,214 hits including 361 home runs and drove in 1,537 RBIs. Astonishingly, he only struck out 369 times in 6,821 at-bats.

Phenomenal! DiMaggio also won three AL MVP awards and nine World Series titles. In 1941, Joltin' Joe hit safely in 56 consecutive games, setting the record for the longest hit streak in MLB history, one that surely will never be touched. Offered here is a 1939 Play Ball #26 Joe DiMaggio Sample Rookie signed by the Yankee Clipper holder 3 VG for the card and GEM MINT 10 for the signature. This superb Rookie of one of the great Yankees in history presents clean surfaces, a crystal-clear portrait image and evenly worn corners and edging, but the "Joe DiMaggio" autograph, signed in black at center, steals the show. The deep dark ink is unblemished and unmistakable as Joltin' Joe's and one of the finest we have ever seen.
