Babe Ruth Signed 1938 World Series Program – In 25" x 18-1/4" Frame PSA/DNA AUTO 8 NM-MT; JSA LOA
BAMBINO SIGNED WORLD SERIES PROGRAM!!!... The 1938 World Series would pit the New York Yankees against the National League's pennant-winning Chicago Cubs, with the Bronx Bombers picking up right where they left off in their 1932 matchup against the Cubbies. Indeed, led by Lou Gehrig and "Joltin' Joe" DiMaggio, the Yankees would once again sweep the inferior Windy City ballclub in four straight games. While it had been six years since the mighty Babe Ruth would blast his iconic World Series "Called Shot" home run in Game 3 at Wrigley Field, the Babe would still show up to numerous Fall Classic games as an avid spectator, now retired for some three-plus years. This matted and framed Yankee Stadium program was issued in either Game 3 or the clinching Game 4, with the incomparable Bambino affixing his immortal "Babe Ruth" signature directly above the "WORLD" text in what appears to be bold pencil.
Reflecting a PSA 8 NM-MT autograph grade, we can only assume that a captivated fan approached the mighty Sultan of Swat at Yankee Stadium, requesting his distinguished autograph, to which the Babe positively responded in his typical benevolent fashion. Professionally matted and framed with a reproduction of a classic 1921 headshot pose, both the program and photo have been framed to rather large 25" x 18-1/4" dimensions. The imposing black frame and bright white matting are perfect complements for the signed World Series program and illustration, and no glaring blemishes are apparent on the critical front cover. While we can only assume some general surface and edge/corner wear is evident, the program has not been removed from the frame to determine if it was scored as a definitive Game 3 or 4.
Issued some 86 years ago, it conjures up memories of how the "new" Bronx Bombers would win four consecutive world championships from 1936 through 1939, even in lieu of the legendary George Herman Ruth having long since played his final MLB game in 1935. Momentous to say the least, it boasts the sanctified autograph of baseball's greatest all-time player on a historically significant World Series program, with any scripted Sultan of Swat artifact worthy of the highest hobby accolades! PSA/DNA and JSA LOAs included.
