(LOT 124)
Honus Wagner, Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson & Napoleon Lajoie Framed Signed Cut PSA/DNA LOA

FOUR 1930s HALL OF FAMERS!!!... This great hobby of ours is driven by popularity, demand and rarity above all else. Of the estimated 22,000 ballplayers in history, only 276 have been inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Pretty rare. When the Hall of Fame first began inducting players, only five were chosen, including Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, Christy Mathewson, Babe Ruth and Honus Wagner. A year later, only three were enshrined: Napoleon Lajoie, Tris Speaker & Cy Young. Nowadays it can even be more difficult to enter the Hall. But the rarity of this offered lot cannot be overstated, as this phenomenal display features the autographs of four of the first two classes, each of whom is pictured in the original class photograph at the Cooperstown opening in 1939. Signed by J. Honus Wagner, Walter Johnson, Napoleon Lajoie and Ty Cobb, this striking 22" x 19-1/4" framed display holds each player's Hall of Fame plaque card with the cut signature page centered. Each player has signed the approximate 4" x 4-1/2" autograph page in black fountain pen, though Lajoie's signature looks to have been written in pencil. The possibility of having four of the first seven Hall of Famers on one page is unlikely, making this an incredible keepsake for the autograph seeker.
