1922 Neilson's Chocolate Babe Ruth Type 2 PSA 2 GOOD
SCARCE BAMBINO!!!... Presented here is a scarce PSA 2 GOOD 1922 V61 Neilson's Chocolate Babe Ruth Type 2 memento that has only been bested by a meager four PSA specimens! Portraying solid VG aesthetics, a majority of Neilson's Chocolate subjects reflect low grades primarily due to their ad backs revealing severe surface damage (a prior Canadian find unearthed many subjects glued to album pages). The Neilson's Chocolate V61 set is closely related to the popular 1922 American Caramel E120 series due to its ornate gray hued designs framing an oval player image.

The Type 2 versions exclude checklist numbers and exhibit standard English text on the verso (as opposed to the Type 1 Old English text). Considered ultra-condition sensitive, this particular example has eluded any glaring obverse side flaws, downgraded due to corner wear, a light horizontal crease extending from the right edge through Ruth's pinstriped uniform, and general surface wear. The classic Ruth holding ball image is relatively clean, boasting fine clarity and atypically excellent centering. The verso does reveal soiling and a few surface abrasions impacting some of the text. In closing, this seldom-surfacing early 1920s Ruth would make a splendid addition to any serious Ruth collection!
