President Richard Nixon Type-Written Letter Signed to Jim Murray, Sports Illustrated Writer on VP Stationary PSA/DNA LOA
On February 20, 1953, one month after his inauguration as Vice President, Richard Nixon signed this typed letter on Office of the Vice President stationary to James Murray of Time Magazine. "At long last I am sending you your membership card in the "Order of the Hound's Tooth", and I am sending your emblem under separate cover." He then refers to a story about the group and says there was a meeting of the club: "...the day after the inauguration... with an attendance of about twenty..." The jury is still out on exactly what the "Order of the Hound's Tooth" group was. A secret society? One great letter from when Nixon was only 40 years old. Also included are the original envelope and two telegrams regarding the Hound's Tooth Club.
