1908-09 Rose Co. Postcards Dummy Taylor SGC 4 VG-EX - One of Only Two Professionally Graded Examples!

ONLY TWO KNOWN!!! This ultra-rare SGC 4 VG-EX 1908-09 Dummy Taylor Rose Co. Postcard is one of only two known examples on any professional grading population report! In 1908, the renowned Rose Company produced a set of postcards considered to be one of the most ornate cardboard relics extant. The 214-subject set includes a 14-card set featuring players from the New York State League's Scranton Miners, with any mid-grade examples few and far between. Right-handed twirler Luther '"Dummy" Taylor stands alongside William "Dummy" Hoy as one of the two most famous deaf players in baseball history. A standout pitcher, Taylor won 115 games in his nine-year Giants tenure (plus a single win with Cleveland) to the tune of a superb 2.75 lifetime ERA, including 21 wins in 1904. His representation on this unmarked Rose postcard is nothing short of outstanding, with the crystal-clear Carl Horner portrait image and relatively clean surfaces being the highlights of this 115-year-old marvel!
