(LOT 1051)
1905 Rotograph PC Luther "Dummy" Taylor SGC Authentic

EXTREMELY SCARCE PC!!! One of the rarest turn of the 20th century cardboard issues is the elusive 1905 Rotograph Postcards, representing both New York Giants and Highlander players. Currently, only nine subjects from a believed to be incomplete checklist have been documented, with this SGC Authentic Luther "Dummy" Taylor offering one of a meager six SGC encapsulated examples (PSA has graded none). Along with William "Dummy" Hoy, Luther "Dummy" Taylor was among the most famous deaf all-time MLB players and a formidable right-handed twirler for John McGraw's Giants. From 1900-1908, he won 115 games in the Big Apple, with his 21 victories in 1904 ably assisting New York in capturing the NL pennant, joining forces with the great Mathewson and McGinnity to establish baseball's arguable finest pitching staff. His crystal clear half-bust representation on this scarcity is beyond spectacular, with the verso addressed in pencil to "Geo. Warren Miller." Aside from the flipside's postal stamp and written address, we have been unable to determine the nature of the Authentic assessment.
