c.1950s Mickey Mantle PSA Type 1 New York Yankees Photo - Measures Approx. 8" x 10"

MANTLE & HIS BATS!!! Little did people realize that in 1951, the ultra-powerful rookie from Oklahoma named Mickey Charles Mantle would be embarking on one of the most iconic careers in baseball history. Offered here is one of the most imposing Mantle photos extant, a magnificent circa 1950s PSA Type 1 image with the Commerce Comet holding four bats as he showcases one of his beaming smiles. The Mick is donning his classic Yankees-road flannels, with the sepia tone contrast and clarity boasting near-perfect brilliance. A diagonal crease near the upper left edge, four moderate thumbtack holes near each corner, and some faint soiling spots rendered virtually irrelevant are the only notable flaws. It's common knowledge that Mantle could hit a baseball harder and further than anyone, with Mickey still holding the record for the longest official home run via his 565-foot wallop at Washington’s Griffith Stadium in 1953 off of southpaw Chuck Stobbs. Indeed, this breathtaking Type 1 image serves as a sheer reminder of how this Goliath phenom took the Big Apple by storm in his 1951 rookie campaign, with Mantle’s supernatural power ultimately etching his name in baseball immortality!
