1909-11 T206 Cy Young Cleveland Portrait Piedmont 150/25 PSA 6 EX-MT

CYCLONE PORTRAIT!!! This magnificent PSA 6 T206 Cy Young Portrait truly stands as one of the Monster Set's most distinguished subjects, highlighted by the renowned Carl Horner portrait pose. Denton True "Cy" Young's incredible 511 lifetime wins just may be baseball's most unbreakable record. Imagine, it would take 25 wins a year for twenty years just to reach the 500-mark, still leaving a pitcher 11 victories short of the seemingly impossible record total. No wonder when baseball decided to present an annual award for pitching excellence, they chose Cy Young's name to represent this prestigious honor. Hall of Famer Cy Young obtained his iconic nickname when he was trying out for the Canton, Ohio minor league team in 1889. One of his blazing fastballs whizzed past the catcher and broke the rear fence, prompting a reporter to state, "the fence looked as if it had been hit by a cyclone!" Word of this quote spread like wildfire, and the "Cy" nickname was forever solidified in baseball folklore.

Tantamount to Young's momentous all-time standing is this card's sparkling aesthetics, emanating many qualities consistent with a pack-fresh example. Young's stoic portrait pose and his Cleveland gray flannels are nearly impeccable, exhibiting crystal-clear clarity and sparkling hues. Stealing the show is the robust green background that somewhat favors the left edge between four snow white borders. The lack of any glaring surface blemishes on either side are additional superlatives, with the subtle corner wear consistent with the grade. The final thumbs-up is the bold midnight blue Piedmont ad back, with this exalted Cy Young offering one of the most coveted T206 heirlooms!
