THE CRAB!!! One of the toughest T206s to find in high-grade is the ever-elusive Johnny Evers with Bat Cubs on Shirt subject, presented here in an outstanding PSA 7 holder. One of seven examples depicting a Sweet Caporal ad back, it has only been surpassed by a SOLE Sweet Cap example! Every baseball purist is all too familiar with the iconic "Tinker to Evers to Chance" double-play combination that spearheaded the Cubs to their two successive championships in 1907 and 1908. Simply stated, Johnny Evers was an unquestionable "winner", also leading the 1914 miracle Boston Braves to a world championship. The seldom-surfacing T206 Cubs on Shirt likeness of the star second sacker portrays a crystal-clear image via the seemingly flawless Evers batting pose affixed to the ultra-popular bold blue/green setting. Near-perfect vertical centering is slightly compromised by the illustration modestly favoring the upper edge. Blinding white borders, relatively clean surfaces (there are some mild toning spots on the verso), and somewhat square corners consistent with the grade complete this timeless masterpiece, with another PSA 7 example fetching over $11K in January 2024!
