1909-11 T206 Ty Cobb Bat On Shoulder Sweet Caporal 150/30 PSA 7.5 NM+ - POP 1!

POP 1 GEORGIA PEACH!!! Presented here is an extremely scarce for the grade 1909 T206 Ty Cobb Bat On Shoulder Sweet Caporal 150 Subjects/Factory 30 marvel that just happens to stand alone as the SOLE example for all advertisement backs at this majestic plateau! Indeed, this POP 1 gem is the only PSA 7.5 Cobb Bat On Shoulder subject, bested by a meager five Sweet Caporal PSA 8 specimens. Along with the staggering pricing points being realized for revered 1950s Hall of Fame rookie cards are significantly spiked values for highly coveted pre-WWI cards. That said, arguably, the most desirable turn of the century baseball cards are the four different Ty Cobb T206 cards issued between 1909 and 1911, with the American Tobacco Company (ATC) issuing four separate Cobb subjects due to his pinnacle baseball standing.

Going into the 1909 campaign, Tyrus had already claimed two consecutive American League batting championships, and his .377 mark in 1909 also paced the Junior Circuit with a league-leading 216 hits. The Georgia Peach arguably resides as the supreme baseball legend from that era, and no baseball card carries his legacy more prominently than a high-grade T206 artifact. Unquestionably, the T206 tobacco issue is the most prestigious group of pre-WWI cards in circulation, with the "Holy Grail" T206 Wagner paving the way for this esteemed tobacco gathering's pinnacle standing. Enthusiasts scramble to obtain at least one, if not all four, of the Ty Cobb T206 variations in high-grade, with all four Cobb's included in PSA's illustrious Top 2500 Sportscards in the hobby publication. A 1936 HOF Charter Member, any century-old Cobb relic is worthy of Cooperstown cardboard status, let alone an example residing in this awe-inspiring state.

Cobb's batting prowess is recognized by every avid baseball enthusiast and his solidified status as one of the game's greatest all-time players is irrefutable. Simply stated, there isn't enough space in the catalog to list Cobb's seemingly infinite number of superlatives with his record .366 career average, 4,189 safeties, and 12 batting titles over a 13-season stretch (including nine in a row from 1907 to 1915) are the ultimate highlights of his remarkable career. Along with Willie Mays, he is regarded as our National Pastime's finest five-tool player, and his unequivocal stature will echo for eternity. Tantamount to Cobb's worldly achievements is this spectacular keepsake, portraying virtually all of the required attributes associated with a pack-fresh card. Commencing with the spectacular gray hues on his classic Tigers uniform as well as the detailed intensity emanating from his facial expression, Cobb's image nearly comes to life as he prepares to stroke one of his line-drive safeties.

Most impressively, the radiant yellow background, enhanced by a rich array of orange, blue and green hues, portrays one of the finest settings imaginable. Near-perfect centering, four blinding white borders, right-angled corners, near-immaculate surfaces, and an extremely bold red Sweet Caporal 150 Subjects verso are the final exclamation points for this quintessential Cobb heirloom. It was earlier this year that a PSA 7 sold for $72K, with a PSA 8 fetching a momentous $210K in August 2023. The sheer concept of owning a Georgia Peach 115-year-old card still retaining a majority of its original pristine qualities simply boggles the mind, with this cardboard blazer nearly as fresh as the day it was originally placed in a Sweet Caporal Cigarette box. Fitting to say the least, this POP 1 masterpiece has not been joined by a single PSA specimen at this lofty tier, synonymous with Tyrus Raymond Cobb's arguable unparalleled standing!
