(LOT 333)
1914 Cracker Jack #99 Frank Chance High-Number PSA 2 GOOD

TAKE A CHANCE!!! One of the most coveted 1914 Cracker Jacks is Frank Chance's iconic #99 subject, presented here in a PSA 2 holder. This card is extra special because this HOF first sacker was only issued in 1914, with Chance excluded from the 1915 set due to his retirement after the 1914 season (Chance managed the Yankees during the 1914 campaign). Ironically, he was replaced by standout first sacker Hal "Prince" Chase in the 1915 set, with Chase inexplicably omitted from the 1914 issue. The immortal Chance's brilliant portrait pose literally jumps off the card, flanked by a nearly impeccable bold red background. As is the case with many CJ subjects, accounting for the grade are various areas of caramel corn staining along the borders and verso, with the heaviest stains situated at the lower left and upper right corners. No glaring creases are evident, and considering the 1914 Frank Chance subject CANNOT be obtained in the 1915 series, this esteemed keepsake will forever reside as one of the 1914 set's most exalted subjects!
