(LOT 332)
1914 Cracker Jack #93 Del Pratt High-Number SGC 2 GOOD

PRATT RARITY!!! This SGC 2 revered offering of the extremely scarce 1914 Del Pratt Cracker Jack #93 subject is one of only 12 SGC encapsulated examples. It boggles the mind to think that the mediocre St. Louis Brown's infielder Derrill Pratt could possibly be mentioned in the same sentence as the immortal Christy Mathewson. Along with the iconic Matty, the 1914 Cracker Jack Pratt resides as one of only two 1914 subjects that the Rueckheim Bros. & Eckstein Co. inexplicably changed their '14 action poses to portrait images for the 1915 set. Why these images were altered has never achieved resolution, leaving a fascinating black hole for collectors to forever ponder. Most significantly, sophisticated enthusiasts realize that the extremely obscure Pratt #93 subject stands tall as one of the 1914 set's momentous subjects.

Pratt's classic throwing pose is affixed to a super eye-pleasing red setting, eluding any glaring blemishes while exhibiting relatively fine centering between four toned borders. No obtrusive creasing or staining is evident within the central image, and a majority of the notable caramel corn stating is restricted to the borders. All four quadrants on the verso exhibit what appear to be scrapbook removal remnants near all four corners, obviously preventing a higher assessment. Most significantly, it is the sheer right to own a copy that takes full precedent, with the Del Pratt 1914 Cracker Jack standing alongside other iconic cardboard "commons" such as the T206 Magie error, T207 Lowdermilk, and T205 Hoblitzell No Stats with regard to its utmost prestige!
