1929 Shonen Club (Kulubu) Babe Ruth Postcard PSA 6 EX-MT
CLASSIC BABE!!! One of Babe Ruth's most artistic cards is this colorful PSA 6 EX 1929 Shonen Club postcard issued as part of a 40-subject Japanese set. The Babe is this obscure set's only baseball player, with the remaining cards portraying landscapes, animals, and other designs. These postcards were distributed with the August 1929 Shonen Club (Kulubu) Japanese youth magazine. An outstanding unmarked postcard, the Japanese caption on the front translates as follows: "This is the moment Babe Ruth, known throughout the world as the home-run king, swings with all his might and hits the ball. The ball flew far past the outfield and it appears to be a home run. The catcher and umpire freeze in awe as they watch and as Babe looks pleased. The spectators in the stands are also breathless as they watch." One of the finest Bambino batting poses extant; it turns back the clock to an era when Ruth's majestic homers turned the baseball world upside down!
