1909-11 T206 Addie Joss Portrait Sweet Caporal 150/30 PSA 9 MINT - POP 1 Sweet Caporal & the Highest Graded Example for ALL Ad Backs!

BEST OF THE BEST JOSS!!! Nicknamed "the Human Hairpin" because of his tall and slender 6'3" 185-190 lb. frame, beloved right-handed Cleveland Indians HOF twirler Addie Joss stands as one of the most underrated pitchers in baseball history. His microscopic 1.89 ERA resides as the second lowest figure in baseball history (a fractional .07 higher than "Big Ed" Walsh's record 1.82 ERA), and very quietly, his 0.968 WHIP (walks and hits per nine innings) still stands as the lowest figure in baseball history. Author of two no-hitters, in 1908 Joss tossed a perfect game against the Chicago White Sox when he bested "Big Ed" Walsh 1-0 in one of the greatest pitched games in baseball history. Joss cards hold a special place with baseball purists since he tragically passed away on April 14, 1911 at the very tender age of 31, due to spinal meningitis.

Strikingly similar to both Lou Gehrig and Roberto Clemente, Addie Joss will always be best remembered for his sudden and heartbreaking death, with its unforeseen circumstances far surpassing his incredible accomplishments as one of our National Pastime's finest all-time hurlers. No wonder collectors actively seek his most cherished cardboard artifacts with arguably none more popular than his T206 Portrait subject portraying Carl Horner's classic Joss facial pose. One of the premier technically assessed specimens just happens to be presented here, an extraordinary PSA 9 MINT Sweet Caporal 150 Subjects marvel that just happens to stand as the SOLE and highest graded Sweet Caporal example on the planet!

Only two other Piedmont PSA 9s currently exist, with this Cooperstown worthy offering synonymous to the great Addie Joss, reigning supreme on the PSA Pop Chart. A cardboard crowned jewel, the brilliant Carl Horner portrait pose bursts with stupendous aesthetics, exhibiting rich facial hues as well as one of the most imposing radiant yellow backgrounds extant. The bygone Cleveland Naps uniform offers dark gray hues, and the well-centered image reveals near-perfect side-to-side centering with a modest favoritism towards the upper edge. Blinding white borders, razor-sharp corners, immaculate surfaces, and an extremely bold red Sweet Caporal 150 Subjects/Factory 30 verso complete one of the foremost Joss examples we have ever encountered.

Bursting with pack-fresh attributes, it is hard to imagine this exalted keepsake has withstood 114 years of potential wear. It is typically said that Sweet Caporal 150 Subject T206s portray the boldest and richest hues, and this Addie Joss tobacco gem certainly substantiates that notion. It was only three years ago that this same offering sold for over $44K in a public auction. Considering the consistent rise of high-grade T206 Hall of Famers, we cannot even begin to estimate its new potential value, especially considering the newfound focus on overall eye appeal as well as the critical technical assessment. Indeed, this revered Addie Joss memento offers the best of both worlds, with its pack-fresh eminence and undisputed finest of its kind PSA 9 grade strikingly similar to his arguable king of the hill stature!
