REDBIRD ROOKIE!!!... There are players in history who have quite literally changed the game of baseball like Babe Ruth and Jackie Robinson, but St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Bob Gibson was a game changer as well. In 1968, "The Year of the Pitcher", Gibby posted an untouchable 1.12 ERA for the season over 34 starts and was not removed from the mound for a reliever one time during the campaign. Following that season, MLB lowered the mound to reduce the dominance of the pitchers vs. batters. Offered here is the key to the 1959 Topps set, #514 Bob Gibson graded 8 NM-MT by PSA. This card is extremely attractive with a bright pink border framing the Redbirds hurler with white borders, sharp corners and clean surfaces. A real beauty of the flame throwing right-hander!
