1952 Bowman #101 Mickey Mantle PSA 5 EX
YANKEE!!!... In 1951, Mutt Mantle drove from Commerce, OK to Kansas City to confront his disillusioned son, Mickey, who had been sent to the minor leagues for "seasoning". Mantle described the visit as his father figuratively leveling "a double-barreled shotgun at my head" to which Mantle responded by ending his hitting slump and returning to the Yankees to finish out his rookie campaign. Fortunately for the hobby, Mantle survived and offered here is his second-year 1952 Bowman #101 Mickey Mantle encased 5 EX by PSA. With Mickey sitting arms crossed waiting for his turn at bat, this remains one of the most sought-after. Excellent color and clean surfaces highlight this example with expected edge wear from a PSA 5. A brilliant example of a boy set to embark on a brilliant Hall of Fame career.
