(LOT 373)
1989 Tecmo Bowl - WATA 9.4 A+ Sealed, NES Nintendo 1989 USA

FIRST NFL APPEARANCES!!!... The 1989 Tecmo Bowl football game for the Nintendo Entertainment System mirrored the 1987 stand-up arcade game and was the first console game that included real NFL players as options. Though the arcade version allowed four players to play at the same time, the home entertainment issue pitted only two players against one another as the Wildcats faced off against the Bulldogs. Gamers are able to play as one-player, two-player or coach as well as choosing their own squad and playing against the computer. There were 12 included teams in the original game including Washington, San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, New York (Giants) and the Los Angeles Raiders.

This early NFL game, perhaps a precursor to the highly successful John Madden Football game, sold more than 5-million copies worldwide. The offered NES Tecmo Bowl game comes from The Carolina Collection and has been encapsulated 9.4 by WATA Grading Service with an "A+" seal rating. An REV-A and Oval SOQ R version box, this example remains in superior condition with a first-party seam. As one of only 28 examples of this version ever graded, this POP 4 example is one of the highest graded with a mere pair earning a higher assessment. This is a colorful and pristine box of one of the great first-generation football games from the 1980s.
