1936 World Series Game #5 – Lou Gehrig Pulls Into 3rd Base Safely - PSA Type 1 Encapsulated Original ACME Newspictures Photo – Measures Approx. 7" x 9"

1936 FALL CLASSIC!!!... This outstanding 1936 World Series game #5 PSA Type 1 photo portrays Lou Gehrig pulling into third base safely after his second inning single to right field went through Mel Ott's legs. Unfortunately for the Yanks, Gehrig would not score since he was thrown out at the plate later that inning on a weak ground ball. In 1936, baseball mania rippled through the city of New York with both the Yankees and Giants having clinched their respective pennants and ready to square off for a 13-year rematch of the 1923 World Series. In typical fashion, Lou Gehrig was the key Yankee force who, along with sensational rookie Joe DiMaggio, helped lead the Yankees back to the top of their division. Although the Yankees would eventually lose game #5 at Yankee Stadium by a 5-4 score in ten innings, they would capture the World Championship the next day at the Polo Grounds to win the first of four consecutive world championships (1936-39).

Regarding the Iron Horse, his legendary feats require no introduction with his string of 100+ RBI seasons and legendary consecutive games played streak fully intact when this photo was taken on October 5, 1936, with Gehrig walloping two round-trippers and knocking in seven runs in this '36 Fall Classic. Measuring approximately 7" x 9", the photo exhibits superb clarity and contrast, as Gehrig easily claims third base donning his classic home Yankee pinstripes. The only notable flaw is some general surface wear situated from the left border to the center of the 87-year-old image, with the verso depicting both the critical caption detailing the illustration's circumstance as well as the ACME Newspictures credit stamp. A superb memento from the classic 1936 World Series featuring the incomparable Henry Louis Gehrig, it rekindles memories of how the Yankee Captain stands tall as our National Pastime's finest all-time first sacker!
