BAMBINO BRAVES!!!... Little did a seemingly infinite number of Yankee fans realize that on September 30, 1934, the incomparable George Herman "Babe" Ruth would be playing in his final Yankee game against the Washington Senators at Griffith Stadium. In the offseason, on February 26, 1935, Col. Jacob Ruppert would trade an aging Ruth to the Boston Braves, with Boston owner Emil "Judge" Fuchs wanting the Bambino solely as an enormous gate attraction. For 15 years with the Yankees, Ruth's prolific batting prowess earned him the well-deserved title of "Baseball's Greatest Player", belting an unfathomable 659 homers with the New York club as well an additional 15 dingers in the World Series.

With Boston, the King of Swat would add an additional six long balls to end his career at the celebrated 714 regular-season mark (he hit 49 home runs with the Red Sox). Presented here is a momentous half-bust Ruth image portraying the Babe donning his Braves uniform for the first-time during spring training on March 7, 1935. Depicting fine clarity and contrast, the classic Ruth image has eluded any noteworthy surface flaws over the past 88 years, with the verso including a critical caption that indicates this is the Bambino's inaugural appearance in Braves' flannels. Ruth would eventually retire in June, finally hanging up his cleats for good after 22 momentous seasons that would place him as the undisputed greatest baseball player of all-time. A historic offering, it represents the campaign that would ultimately mark the end of George Herman Ruth's unparalleled MLB career!
