1916 Rabbit Maranville Original PSA Type 1 Encapsulated Underwood & Underwood Photo – Measures Approx. 7-3/4" x 10"

RABBIT TYPE 1 IMAGE!!!... Hall of Fame shortstop Rabbit Maranville played 23 seasons for six NL ball clubs. As the great Honus Wagner's skill sets slowly declined in the 1910s, it would Maranville who now claimed the title as baseball's finest shortstop, with Rabbit teaming up with HOF teammate Johnny Evers as the main catalysts leading the 1914 "Miracle Braves" to their inaugural World Championship. While never a star hitter, Maranville's defensive ability is still considered the equal of virtually any shortstop who ever played the game. Two years after the Braves claimed their miraculous championship, this outstanding PSA Type 1 Rabbit Maranville 1916 Spring Training image was issued by the renowned Underwood & Underwood News Service.

Depicting a spectacular Rabbit swinging pose, the approximate 7-3/4" x 10" sepia-toned image was taken in Miami, Florida, justifying why Rabbit is only wearing a light undershirt. Exhibiting the finest possible clarity and contrast, the imposing image has somehow managed to elude any blatant flaws over the past 107 years. The upper region does portray some scattered wrinkles and a diminutive blue vertical line, with the verso including a critical caption detailing this March 24, 1916 Spring Training event. Interestingly enough, the end of the caption eloquently reads: "The Rabbit is always on the jump putting ginger in the workouts. Maranville is considered the best shortstop in the National League, and he is in no danger of losing his crown. – 3/24/16". An extremely rare offering, it serves as a sheer reminder of how this HOF shortstop still resides as one of our National Pastime's greatest al-time shortstops!
