(LOT 171)
1909-11 T206 Ty Cobb Bat On Shoulder Piedmont 350/25 PSA 4 VG-EX

TYRUS TRIPLE CROWN CAMPAIGN!!!... Locating a near-perfectly centered T206 Ty Cobb "Bat On" subject is synonymous to finding a needle in a haystack, justifying why this outstanding PSA 4 VG-EX 1909 T206 Georgia Peach offering is the card for you! Its virtually dead-on 50/50 positioned image rarely surfaces for the taking, truly standing as one of the finest mid-grade examples you will ever come across. Of course, it's Cobb's classic batting pose that truly steals the show, bursting with atypical fine clarity and an array of sparkling hues. It is this batting stance that ultimately led to Cobb capturing 12 AL batting titles in a 13-year span, a remarkable and unprecedented achievement that included three .400+ campaigns.

No wonder baseball writers chose Ty along with Ruth, Wagner, Johnson and Mathewson as one of the five 1936 HOF Charter Members. Cobb's unparalleled intensity at the plate is clearly revealed in this momentous pose that literally transcends time to turn of the century baseball. Relatively clean surfaces include four white borders and an extremely bold midnight blue Piedmont 350 Subjects verso. Accounting for the assessment are two light wrinkles situated in the lower left quadrant and directly to the right of Cobb's right hand, as well as even corner wear consistent with the grade. Interestingly enough, Tyrus would capture his only Triple Crown the year this 1909 tobacco gem was issued, with his .377 average, 9 homers and 107 RBIs pacing the Junior Circuit while spearheading Detroit to their third consecutive AL Pennant!
