Magnificent 1909-11 T206 Ty Cobb Bat Off Shoulder Sweet Caporal 350/25 PSA 8 NM-MT – Only 2 PSA Sweet Caporal Examples Graded Higher!

PSA 8 TOBACCO COBB!!!... Regarding unequivocal stature, the four T206 Cobb subjects stand right alongside other pre-war cardboard icons such as the T206 Honus Wagner, Babe Ruth's Baltimore News and M101 Rookie, Cobb with a Cobb Back, T206 Eddie Plank, and Goudey Lajoie. In 1909, the American Tobacco Company (ATC) fully recognized that Detroit's budding superstar, Ty Cobb, was one of baseball's two premier ball players of the day (along with Hans Wagner), ultimately prompting them to issue four different Cobb subjects in their renowned T206 tobacco card distribution. Two of those poses included Cobb portrait images, while the other two portrayed the iconic Tiger's star in "Bat On" and "Bat Off" shoulder poses. All four of these Ty Cobb keepsakes are included in PSA's Top 250 Sportscards publication with high-grade specimens extremely coveted and ultra-scarce. That said, presented here just happens to be a breathtaking PSA 8 NM-MT Ty Cobb "Bat Off Shoulder" Sweet Caporal 350 Subjects/Factory 25 keepsake that along with four other PSA 8 Sweet Caporal examples has only been bested by a meager two Cobb Sweet Caps (SC). Furthermore, PSA's prestigious Pop Chart also indicates that the SC 350 Subjects/Factory 25 ad back combination only lists TWO PSA 8 specimens at this hallowed plateau, with this extraordinary offering sharing the spotlight as the finest SC 350/25 marvel!

Its lofty standing is spot-on synonymous with the Georgia Peach's unparalleled batting achievements including a record 12 batting titles in a 13-year stretch, nine of which were achieved over an unfathomable nine consecutive seasons! A 1936 charter member of baseball's illustrious Hall of Fame, Cobb would capture his fourth consecutive batting title in 1910 via his sensational .382 mark, the year this 350 subjects marvel was issued by the ATC. His .366 lifetime batting average is widely regarded as one of baseball's "unbreakable" records, and his status as one of our National Pastime's greatest players is forever embedded in the hearts and minds of baseball's most prominent enthusiasts. Ironically, Cobb's immortality is tantamount with the aesthetic brilliance of this miraculous 113-year-old heirloom. The timeless image exhibits flawless gray hues on his classic Detroit Tigers flannels, and the classic Cobb "hands-apart" batting grip prompts the notion that he is about to unleash another one of his 4,189 safeties. Additional highlights include the wood grain detail on Cobb's bat, the smoke emanating from the period style smokestack, and Ty's intense facial expression that placed him as one of our National Pastime's fiercest competitors.

Most impressively, the crystal-clear image includes a brilliant background courtesy of sparkling yellow, orange, blue and green colored tints, easily sufficing as one of the finest settings you will ever encounter on this T206 Cobb subject. Excellent centering only reveals a smidge of favoritism towards the left edge between four blinding white borders, and the razor-sharp edges include four pinpoint corner tips. No notable surface blemishes are apparent on either side, with the bold red "SWEET CAPORAL 350 SUBJECTS" ad back the final exclamation point for this time defying marvel that has managed to retain virtually all of its original pack-fresh attributes since its 1910 inception.  T206 PSA 8 NM-MT mementos don't surface every day, let alone one representing the unparalleled Tyrus Raymond Cobb who will forever reside as one of baseball's pinnacle all-time players!
