(LOT 84)
1952 Bowman Large Football 5-Cent Wax Pack GAI 6.5 EX-MT+

'52 BOWMAN WAX!!!... At the start of the 1952 calendar year, the Bowman Gum Company was still the industry leader for producing sports cards, and their world-class 1952 Bowman Large 144-card compilation still resides as one of football's greatest sets. Arguably considered the most brilliant artistically designed gridiron compilation, its added attraction is the abundance of Canton, Ohio HOF Inductees and rookie cards, with its aforementioned unparalleled array of sparkling artful renderings on each card sealing the deal for most sophisticated collectors. That said, presented here is a super scarce 1952 Bowman Large unopened wax pack, graded a formidable 6.5 EX-MT+ by the GAI wax pack authentication service.

Looking as if it was just pulled out of a wax box resting on the countertop of a local mom and pop candy store, its original factory seals are intact, with the red, yellow and white surface hues eluding any notable flaws over the past 71 years. For full disclosure, the verso reveals a small piece of white foam inserted by GAI for the sole purpose of preventing the pack from moving around in the holder (thus reducing the risk for damage to the wrapper). Imagine, this time capsule offering could include high-grade football Hall of Famers such as George Halas (R), Art Donovan (R), Gino Marchetti (R/SP), Andy Robustelli (R), Sammy Baugh, Van Buren (SP), Otto Graham, Frank Gifford (R/SP), Y.A. Tittle, Tom Landy, Norm Van Brocklin, Charlie Conerly (SP), and so many more of gridiron's immortals. Likewise adding to the attraction of the '52 Bowman Large set are the significant number of short-print and high number scarcities, with this remarkable "Golden Era" unopened pack worthy of a final resting place in one of the most prestigious wax collections!
