1922 Eastern Exhibit Supply Co. Walter Johnson Postcard SGC 5 EX
In 1922, the Philadelphia based Eastern Exhibit Supply Co. distributed a 20-subject postcard set with standard postcard typography on the reverse sides (as opposed to the Chicago based company that produced 1921 and 1922 "blank back" exhibits). The obverse sides include outstanding sepia-toned images of baseball's premier players with their complete names and team designations printed in white ink near the lower edge, with some of the postcard versos revealing a 615 Dickinson, Philadelphia, PA Exhibit Supply Co. address. Along with Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb, one of the set's three most desirable and valuable subjects is the immortal Walter Johnson, presented here in an outstanding SGC 5 EX holder and including the 615 Dickinson address on the flip side.

One of three examples at this scarce mid-grade plateau, only seven SGC specimens have managed to achieve a higher assessment! The Big Train needs no formal introduction for his miraculous achievements including 417 lifetime wins and 110 shutouts have rightfully placed him at the top of most historians' lists as our national Pastime's greatest all-time pitcher. The imposing sepia-toned image has defied a century of potential wear, as Johnson has just unleashed another one of his blazing side-arm fastballs. No glaring flaws are evident on either side, with some negligible corner wear (especially along the two lower corners) preventing a higher grade. One of the most elusive of all Walter Johnson cards, its low-pop count and classic Big Train pitching pose combine to make it a must-have for any serious Walter Johnson or Exhibit Card enthusiast!
