(LOT 127)
Exceptional Jimmie Foxx Signed George Burke Postcard - PSA/DNA Autograph GEM MINT 10

GEM MINT FOXX AUTO!!! In 1938, Jimmie Foxx became the first player in Major League history to win three MVP awards (1932, '33, '38). Foxx's numbers were some of the best throughout the 1920s and '30s including 519 home runs, 1,844 RBIs and 2,500 hits from 1927 to 1941. He was the most feared batter in the big leagues not named Ruth of Gehrig. Foxx led the Philadelphia Athletics to three straight World Series (1929-31) winning in '29 and '30 batting .344 with four home runs and 11 RBIs in 18 World Series games. During this same period, George Burke was making a name for himself in Chicago as one of the premier sports photographers with access to both Major and minor league teams.

Burke's images are some of the most iconic in history and many have been used to create trading cards for players across baseball. Offered is a 1930s George Burke postcard featuring The Beast's posed follow-through. In eye-catchingly bold, black fountain pen, "Jimmie" Foxx is scripted deeply against his uniform earning a GEM MINT 10 assessment from PSA/DNA. The reverse features all of the standard postcard markings as well as the "GEO. BURKE – 847 BELMONT AVE., CHICAGO, ILL." studio address. This is one of the finest signatures of "XX" on a postcard in existence and deserves a prominent place among the finest Hall of Fame autograph collections.
