1934 Goudey #19 Lefty Grove PSA 9 MINT

MINT GROVE!!! One of fire-balling southpaw Lefty Grove's most iconic cardboard issues is his 1934 Goudey #19 subject, presented here in an awe-inspiring PSA 9 MINT holder. One of a mere five examples at this hallowed plateau, not a single PSA specimen has been awarded the 10 assessment, placing this extraordinary Grove offering at the top of the exalted PSA Pop Chart! Synonymous with this card's premier standing is Lefty Grove's incomparable career that places him as one of our National Pastime's greatest all-time pitchers. The Cooperstown Inductee claimed 300 lifetime wins, ably assisted by a blazing fastball that assisted Grove in leading the league in strikeouts seven consecutive seasons (1925-1931) as owning an MLB record nine single-season ERA titles! Unquestionably, his finest season was in 1930 when he posted an unfathomable 31-4 record, leading the league in virtually every category including wins, strikeouts, ERA, winning-percentage, complete games and shutouts; with the Athletics claiming their second consecutive World Championship.

In fact, his 31 wins stands as the last time a southpaw has posted 30 or wins in a season (right-handers Dizzy Dean and Denny McLain achieved this feat after 1930). Of all his spectacular feats, the most impressive may be his 300-140 lifetime record, equating to an incomprehensible .682 lifetime winning percentage and the finest for all 300 game winners. To place his legacy in perspective, renowned sportswriter Arthur "Bugs" Baer once remarked "Grove's left arm is so fast he could throw a lamb chop past a wolf". Justifying the grade is his near-immaculate pitching pose as he releases another one of his seemingly speed of light fastballs. The fine centering between four snow white borders only reflects a negligible partiality towards the right edge, with additional pack-fresh attributes including sharp right-angled corners, impeccable surfaces, sparkling baby-blue and green background hues, and a pristine "Lou Gehrig Says…" caption along the lower border. Simply stated, PSA 9 MINT 1934 Goudey cards are few and far between, with their 88-year existence typically resulting in an abundance of glaring flaws. Emanating brilliant eye appeal nearly consistent with any perfect card, it merits the highest hobby accolades via its premier Pop Chart standing that is similar to Grove's stature as one of baseball's finest hurlers to ever toe a rubber!
