1952 Topps #245 Signed Sherry Robertson PSA 4.5 VG-EX+ Card Grade; PSA AUTH Auto

Deceased: 1970; Grade Pop: 1; Pop Higher: 1; Total Pop: 10
Utility player Sherry Robertson holds the unique and sad distinction of being the only player to accidentally kill a spectator with a thrown baseball. In a 1943 game played against the Cleveland Indians at Washington's Griffith Stadium, Robertson fielded a ground ball hit by Ken Keltner and his errant throw over first baseman Mickey Vernon's outstretched glove sailed into the stands and boldly struck 32-year-old Clarence Stagemeyer. Although claiming he was alright, Clarence was advised by the Senators' team doctor to go to the hospital where he tragically died the following day due to the ill effects of a severe skull fracture.
