(LOT 857)
"Unique for the Grade" 1958 Topps #281 Sam Taylor Rookie Card PSA 10 GEM MINT – "POP 1"; The SOLE Highest Graded Example!

The bona fide rookie card for catcher Sammy Taylor is his 1958 Topps #281 subject, presented here in an absolutely miraculous PSA 10 GEM MINT holder. The sole copy at this hallowed plateau, it just happens to stand as the undisputed "best of the rest" on the illustrious PSA "Pop" Chart! Sam Taylor's inaugural MLB season was 1958 with the Chicago Cubs, with the Milwaukee Braves trading their promising young minor-league star to the Cubbies before the start of the '58 campaign. Although Taylor never fulfilled his potential, he did manage to play six MLB seasons, with this PSA 10 "POP 1" rookie card ensuring his legacy. The half-body classic pose is well projected via the radiant yellow backdrop, with Taylor's richly hued image revealing near-perfect centering between four blinding white borders. Fine edging, pinpoint corners and impeccable surfaces all combine to support the "one of a kind" assessment that has eluded the 200+ additional PSA encapsulated Sam Taylor subjects!
