(LOT 728)
"Unique for the Grade" 1954 Bowman #179 Morris Martin "Incorrect 44 ERA" Variation PSA 10 GEM MINT – "POP 1": The SOLE Highest Graded Example!

It truly doesn't get better than this museum worthy PSA 10 GEM MINT 1954 Bowman Morris Martin offering that just happens to be the SOLE example at this pinnacle tier! Indeed, this "POP 1" marvel has somehow managed to survive the past 68 years retaining all of its original factory-issued attributes, and as advanced collectors realize, it stands as a "must-have" for any elite PSA Set Registry enthusiast. It should be noted that this offering just happens to include the incorrect "44" Life ERA statistic on the verso (as opposed to the correct "4.44" ERA). To say that Morris (Morrie) Martin "bounced around" in his 10-year MLB tenure is an understatement, with this crafty southpaw playing with seven different ballclubs. Before being traded to the White Sox, he started the 1954 campaign with the Philadelphia Athletics, explaining why his '54 Bowman subject portrays him in donning his Athletics uniform. Absolutely brilliant hues and impeccable clarity are the highlights of this time-defying gem that also reveals superb centering including four snow white borders. The extremely sharp right-angled corners could draw blood, and no noteworthy flaws can be detected on either side. A bona fide "10" to say the least, unlike Morrie Martin's uneventful career, it arguably merits a final resting place in any cardboard Hall of Fame!
