1957 Topps #138 Johnny Unitas Rookie PSA 8 NM-MT

UNITAS ROOKIE!!! For years, the incomparable Baltimore Colts Hall of Fame quarterback Johnny Unitas was considered the uncontested owner of the title "greatest quarterback ever". This honor was bestowed upon him primarily due to his countless passing records including most lifetime touchdowns and passing yardage. Though recent stars such as Marino, Favre, Montana, Manning and Brady, to mention a few, have eclipsed many of his single season and lifetime passing records, many historians still regard Unitas as the greatest quarterback ever, largely in part to his unparalleled leadership ability. His knowledge of the game and exceptional passing skills helped to earn him the nickname "Golden Arm" as no others possessed his superior skill set. Johnny Unitas won three NFL championships including Super Bowl V with his Baltimore Colts, but equaled those victories with an amazing three NFL MVP Awards. Only Peyton Manning (5) and Aaron Rodgers (4) have won more than Unitas, who is tied with Jim Brown, Brett Favre and Tom Brady to-date. This is why football card enthusiasts continue to painstakingly pursue his hallowed 1957 Topps rookie card in high-grade condition. Presented here is the iconic 1957 Johnny Unitas rookie card in a PSA 8 holder. The dual-image representation of the legendary quarterback is spot-free, with both poses set against orange and green hued backgrounds. The classic illustration exhibits decent centering between four bright white borders, and both surfaces are virtually flawless, with all technical qualities consistent with a pack-fresh card.
