1933 Goudey #44 Signed Jim Bottomley (PSA AUTHENTIC) – One of Only 7 PSA Encapsulated Copies!
While Bottomley's success was never the equal of the two immortal first basemen from that era (Gehrig and Foxx), he did manage to achieve a feat that neither of those players ever accomplished. In 1924, he knocked in a record 12 runs in a single game via his two homers, double and three singles. Additionally, he captured the league's MVP award in 1928 and accumulated his highest batting average ever (.371) in his rookie season. A formidable Cooperstown Inductee, his autographed 1933 Goudey #44 subject continues to be one of his highly coveted mementos, presented here in an ironclad PSA "Authentic" holder. One of only seven PSA encapsulated examples, the last sale of another signed specimen roughly a year ago realized an impressive $2.4K. The neat "J. Bottomley" black fountain pen signature is affixed directly beneath his chin, with the card's aesthetics comparable to a "VG" example. Some upper left quadrant spider wrinkles and a diminutive stain on the verso do not impede the critical scripted central image that places this offering at an esteemed level!
