1952 Topps #379 Joe Rossi "High Number" PSA 9 Mint - Highest Graded PSA Example!

Similar to Tony Bartirome (also presented in this auction), as luck would have it, the Topps Chewing Gum Company somehow included Cincinnati Reds rookie catcher Joe Rossi as checklist number 379 in their 1952 "high number" series. Rossi played in his inaugural MLB game on April 20, 1952 and his last major league appearance was later that season on September 12th. From 1941 thru 1957, the weak hitting catcher would play minor league baseball for 14 seasons; however, he would never again participate in an MLB game after his brief stint with the Reds in 1952. Fortunately for Rossi, this miraculous PSA 9 Mint 1952 Topps #379 offering will forever stand as a bona fide testament for his brief big-league status. One of only seven examples at this pinnacle tier, it resides as the finest of its kind with not a single PSA 10 listed on their illustrious "Pop" Chart! Its breathtaking attributes include a compelling Rossi landscape portrait image revealing robust hues, fine centering only slightly favoring the right edge, pinpoint corner tips, and impeccable surfaces. A cardboard masterpiece to say the least, it truly merits a final resting place in the finest 1952 Topps compilation!
