(LOT 1765)
c.1960s Hank Aaron PSA Type 1 Encapsulated Bill & Bob Photo Studios Image Measures Approx. 8" x 10"

"He's sitting on 714Here's the pitch by DowningSwingingThere's a drive into left-centerfieldThat ball is going to be out of hereIt's GoneIt's 715There's a new home-run champion of all-time and it's Henry Aaron!" Such was the iconic call of Henry Aaron's historic 715th home run by Braves legendary announcer, the late Milo Hamilton. On April 8th, 1974 at Fulton County Stadium, Aaron stepped into the batter's box in the bottom of the 4th inning against the Dodgers' hard-throwing southpaw Al Downing. After taking ball one in the dirt, Aaron crushed Downing's next fastball into the bullpen as leftfielder Bill Buckner helplessly watched the ball sail over the left-centerfield fence.

The unthinkable had happened with Aaron finally surpassing Babe Ruth's magical 714-mark! Some 20 years earlier, Aaaron would be called up by the Braves for the 1954 season, eventually clouting 179 Home Runs before the end of the decade. "Hammerin Hank" would continue his assault on ballpark's fences during the 1960s, adding an additional 375 round-trippers to his 50s total that would place him at 554 homers by the end of the 1969 season and only 160-short of the immortal Babe Ruth's 714 figure that he surpassed in 1974. As a testament to his amazing "37.5 dingers per season" run throughout the 1960s, presented here is an outstanding PSA Type 1 c.1960s batting image of the legendary slugger, obviously taken between 1960 and 1965 due to Aaron donning his period-style Milwaukee Braves cap and jersey.

Measuring approximately 8" x 10", it exhibits breathtaking contrast and clarity, portraying an extremely "close-up" glossy batting stance pose of the iconic slugger. Other than standard corner wear, the extremely well-preserved illustration reveals no obtrusive flaws whatsoever, with the final superlative being the BILL & BOB PHOTOGRAPHERS credit stamp affixed to the verso. Simply stated, we cannot imagine a finer image depicting Hank Aaron's classic batting stance that ultimately led to his unfathomable 755 lifetime round-trippers!
