(LOT 60)
1962 Topps #318 Mickey Mantle "The Switch Hitter Connects" PSA 9 MINT

The 1962 campaign would represent Mickey Mantle's final World Series title, with the Yankees besting the San Francisco Giants in a grueling 7-game contest. "The Mick" would claim his third and final American League M.V.P. award that season, with his 30 round trippers, .321 batting average and .605 slugging percentage paving the way for the Yankee's final championship over the next 15 years. Ironically, it would be this season that Topps would add a "special" Mantle subject to their legendary checklist, with card #318 exhibiting three different sequential poses of "The Mick's" iconic batting swing. Presented here just happens to be that ultra-popular card in a breathtaking PSA Mint 9 holder, one of only 11 PSA encapsulated copies with NONE graded higher.

Indeed, synonymous with Mantle's unparalleled hobby stature, this Cooperstown worthy offering proudly shares the spotlight as the finest of its kind. Incredibly, the super condition-sensitive brown borders have retained virtually all of their factory-issued hues, and as hobbyists surely realize, this is no easy achievement. All three Mantle images are near-immaculate, as Mickey completes his mighty swing donning his classic Yankee home pinstripes. Fine centering, pinpoint corners and super clean surfaces complete this timeless memento virtually that along with ten other examples, rightfully sits at the top of the illustrious PSA "Pop" Chart!
