(LOT 51)
1957 Topps Yankee Power Hitters/Mantle & Berra PSA 9 MINT - "NONE Graded Higher!

Consider that Yankee legends Mickey Mantle and Yogi Berra accumulated an unfathomable six MVPs and 894 lifetime home runs. If that isn't impressive enough, their combined World Series totals are absolutely remarkable including 30 home runs, 79 R.B.I.s, 26 appearances, 17 championships and 140 games! They were the heart and soul of the incredible 1950s and early-1960s Yankees dynasty, justifying why their dual representation on the 1957 Topps $407 subject is one of the most coveted post-WWII baseball cards. With that in mind, presented here is a remarkable PSA Mint 9 Mantle/Berra 1957 Topps specimen that joins only ten other examples as the finest of its kind! Indeed, of the approximate 4,500 PSA encapsulated copies, not a SOLE specimen has managed to achieve the pinnacle "10" assessment. This sparkling rendition of the two Yankee Hall of Fame legends depicts both players with bats over their left shoulders as they rest on the top of the dugout steps, waiting for their turn to wreak havoc on another overmatched hurler.

Dressed in their classic Yankee pinstripe home uniforms, each player portrays near-pristine contrast and focus, with the image revealing only an ever so slight partiality towards the lower right edges. Dazzling white borders, a clean glossy surface and a virtually flawless reverse side complete this 1957 Topps marvel that, synonymous with the excellence of its two iconic players, is more than worthy of a final resting place in any high-grade PSA Registered Set. Interestingly enough, a PSA 9 example has not sold in quite some time, with a "Mint 9" specimen fetching nearly $20K over three years ago. Considering the current soaring pricing points for all high-grade Mantles, we cannot even begin to speculate on the ultimate value of this seldom-surfacing masterpiece that has stubbornly defied "Father-Time" by retaining virtually all of its original factory-issued pristine attributes over the past 64 years!
