(LOT 20)
1932 U.S. Caramel #32 Babe Ruth SGC 3 VG

RUTH ON RED!!! Graded 3 VG by SGC. U.S. Caramel's 1932 issue was the last major set they would offer and featured sporting greats from baseball to boxing to golf. Much scarcer than their highly distributed Goudey competitor, U.S. Caramel can be much more difficult to assemble, especially in high-grade. The offered is a keystone of the 1932 U.S. Caramel set along with Ty Cobb, Bobby Jones, Gene Sarazen and other Hall of Fame notables. Each image bursts through a bold red background with an ivory border. The colors remain bright with expected wear consistent throughout, though centering is superior for this fine example. Undervalued for the longest time, this issue is finally being recognized for its utmost scarcity versus its abundant Goudey Ruth peers, justified by soaring pricing points for all related technical assessments (Good/VG examples are now fetching $15-$20K). Indeed, now is the time to build your U.S. Caramel set around this revered Ruth!
