(LOT 249)
1921 Exhibits – Ty Cobb (PSA NM 7) – The SOLE & HIGHEST GRADED PSA Example!

When the Chicago based Exhibit Supply Co. introduced their landmark Exhibit set in 1921, they obviously included the immortal Tyrus Raymond Cobb as one of their 64 subjects. Entering the 1920's Cobb had already captured 12 batting titles (including 9 in a row from 1907-1915), and was generally regarded as baseball's foremost "all-around" player. As a bold testament to his unparalleled greatness, presented here just happens to be Cobb's finest 1921 Exhibit card extant, a breathtaking PSA Near Mint 7 gem that stands alone at the top of the PSA "Pop" Chart! Synonymous with the "Georgia Peach's" unequivocal standing among our National Pastime's greatest players, this supreme offering has stubbornly defied "father time" over the past 100 years. Ty's well-centered swinging pose depicts superior contrast and resolution, revealing no glaring surface flaws on either side while maintaining a majority of its original right-angled corner formations. Indeed, the imposing aesthetics justify the grade, and Cobb would reward his faithful following by posting another incredible .389 batting average for the 1921 season. In closing, what could be more fitting for baseball's superior "5-tool" player than a captivating heirloom from his revered playing days that unequivocally stands tall as the "best of the rest!"
