1938 Goudey Heads Up #273 Jimmy Foxx PSA 8 NM-MT

HOF FOXX!!! "The Beast". After Ruth and Gehrig, his 1930's cards are certainly the most valuable as well as desirable mementos for most enthusiasts, and this card certainly qualifies as one of his premier issues. The classic Foxx "line-drawing" image including the ultra-popular caricature portrait illustration portrays magnificent contrast with superior blue and red/orange hues set against a flawless-like surface.

One of the most recognized pre-WWII cardboard pictures, it reminds us of the superior batting skills possessed by "XX" that ably assisted him in walloping his mammoth-like tape measure round-trippers. The highly coveted Foxx black text comments and cartoon drawings encompassing the caricature pose are bold and vivid, with the "JIMMY FOXX, Red Sox" black print along the lower bright blue text box reflecting superior registration. Razor sharp corner tips could draw blood, and the hallowed image within the blue framing is virtually dead-centered.

The verso is likewise brilliant, with the bold green verbiage affixed to a bright white surface; the final exclamation point for this sparkling cardboard keepsake that appears as if it has just been removed from a 1938 Goudey pack. The undisputed "best of the rest, its "1 of 1; Highest Graded" standing places it as one of the most significant Foxx cards extant!
