1964 Jim Brown Sports Illustrated Image - PSA Type 1 Encapsulated Sports Illustrated Photo – Measures Approx. 7-7/8" x 9-7/8"

No one could possibly argue that Jim Brown stands as one of the top two or three greatest running backs in NFL history, with many historians placing him atop that illustrious list! The powerful Cleveland Browns running back literally rumbled thru opposing defenses, carrying the pigskin with reckless abandonment to the tune of 12,312 and a staggering 5.2 yards per carry in only nine NFL seasons. Red Grange, Bronco Nagurski, Walter Payton, Gale Sayers, Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, etc.; name them all and virtually all enthusiasts would concur, NONE were as good as the immortal Jim Brown. The finest at his position, Brown was virtually unstoppable, even with the best defenses keying on him for 60 minutes every Sunday afternoon.

It is for this reason that avid grid-iron hobbyists actively pursue his most coveted artifacts, and this extremely scarce 1964 Sports Illustrated issued photo resides as one of his most eclectic collectibles. The first PSA Type 1 illustration we have seen of this 1964 SI image, it measures approximately 7-7/8" x 9-7/8" while emanating sparkling resolution. Brown appears to be "taking a breather" on the gridiron turf with his closed eyes and renowned #32 browns jersey stealing the show. While the classic SI image utilized in one of their 1964 issues does reveal a number of scattered creases, one particularly affixed on the right side of his helmet, a majority of the wrinkles are fortunately hidden to the naked eye. The verso reveals the critical Sports Illustrated credit stamp, the final superlative for one of the most significant and captivating Jim Brown photos you will ever come across!
