(LOT 317)
1957 Bob Cousy PSA Type 1 Encapsulated Photo – Measures Approx. 7-3/8" x 9-1/4"

Nicknamed the "Houdini of the Hardwood" and "Mr. Basketball", Bob Cousy will forever be regarded as one of the greatest point guards in NBA history, with his ball-handling and passing skills virtually revolutionizing professional basketball. This magnificent photo of Bob Cousy dribbling the ball behind his back was taken during the Spring of 1957, the year Cousy would claim his only MVP award and his inaugural NBA championship. From 1950 thru 1963, Cousy would win 6 NBA titles (including 5 consecutive championships from 1959 – 1963), while leading the league in assists for an unprecedented 8 consecutive seasons (1953-1960). A first ballot Hall of Famer, he was a member of the All-Star team for all 13 of his seasons with the Boston Celtics, winning the All-Star game MVP in two of those campaigns (1954; 1957).

Any artifacts from Cousy's playing days are highly coveted within the collecting community, justifying why this sparkling PSA Type 1 7-3/8" x 9-1/4" offering merits serious attention from any enthusiast. As he performed so eloquently, "Cooz" is nonchalantly executing a "behind the back" dribble with the aesthetically brilliant image revealing no glaring flaws. A few stray winkles are barely noticeable, and the flipside is boldly stamped "APR 12, 1957." One of the finest Bob Cousy illustrations extant, it serves as a sheer reminder of how this 6'1" Hall of Famer guided his Celtics team to a seemingly infinite number of victories as good if not better than any point guard in NBA history!
