The 1936 season would see the Yankees call up their star centerfielder Joseph Paul DiMaggio and he would quickly join Yankee captain Lou Gehrig in leading the Yankees to their first World Series appearance since 1932. Led by an astonishing six Cooperstown Inductees on the playing field (Gehrig, DiMaggio, Dickey, Ruffing, Lazzeri, and Gomez) as well as their Hall of Fame manager (Joe McCarthy) and coach (Earl Combs); the Yankees would win 102 games and coast to the American League pennant. The Fall Classic would then see the "Bronx Bombers" capture the first of four consecutive championships, besting the New York Giants in six games.
