Magnificent c.1926 Babe Ruth PSA Type 1 Encapsulated ACME Newspictures Photo – Measures Approx. 7-3/8" x 9-1/4"

The 1925 season would see the "Sultan of Swat" severely struggle due to several bouts of "unknown" illnesses, leading to a six-week hospitalization at New York's St. Vincent's Medical Center. After his dismal campaign, Ruth vowed to his adoring fan base that he would make a resounding return in 1926, and he surely backed up that claim. The flamboyant superstar posted one of his finest seasons ever, walloping 47 dingers, batting in 153 runs and posting a sensational .372 batting average and likewise outstanding 1.253 OPS! The "Bambino" had returned with a vengeance, leading the Yankees to the 1926 World Series that they would unfortunately lose to St. Louis in a tightly contested seven games. This spine-tingling c.1926 ACME Newspictures photo was originally taken during that fabled 1926 campaign, portraying the iconic "Sultan of Swat" in a stoic sitting pose as he dons his classic Yankees pinstripes.

Holding his colossal lumber across his lap, Ruth is staring into the camera with one of the most stoic poses you will ever encounter from this "larger than life" superstar. Measuring approximately 7-3/8" x 9-1/4", this offering emanates superb clarity and fine contrast, with the image stubbornly defying "father-time" over the past 94 years. Its breathtaking aesthetics are not compromised by any glaring blemishes, and only a few stray wrinkles are situated near the upper and lower right quadrants. The final exclamation point is the significant "ACME Newspictures" credit stamp affixed to the verso, with a few stray pencil notations including "Babe Ruth's" hallowed name. A truly extraordinary image, you can literally feel Ruth's intensity as he appears to be totally "locked in", not even aware of the unparalleled baseball career he is about to embark on including the following 1927 campaign when he would clout his legendary 60 round-trippers in a single season. One of the finest Ruth illustrations we have ever encountered, this timeless heirloom effectively turns back the clock to the renowned 1926 campaign when the "Babe" made good on his promise to clean up his act and re-assume his standing as our National Pastime's foremost player!
