1949 Duke Snider Bowman #226 Rookie Card Image PSA Type 1 Encapsulated Barney Stein/Brooklyn Dodgers Photo – Measures Approx. 8" x 10"

One of the most significant collecting angles in the hobby is capturing original Type 1 photos depicting an image utilized for the player's specific trading card. Related price tags continue to soar for such photos, especially when the illustration represents the player's true rookie card. That said, presented here is an extremely rare PSA Type 1 Duke Snider 1949 photo that portrays the "exact" image utilized for Snider's historically significant 1949 Bowman #226 inaugural baseball card! The photo itself portrays a breathtaking "Duke of Flatbush" half-body portrait pose with Snider donning his classic Brooklyn Dodgers uniform. Emanating the finest possible clarity and contrast, the 8" x 10" photo has eluded any serious flaws, with the only blemishes worthy of mention being the moderate toning and partial enamel peel along all four borders.

The final compliment is the significant Brooklyn Dodgers/Barney Stein credit stamp on the otherwise clean verso. Regarding Duke Snider's illustrious stature, he certainly needs no introduction within the collecting community. Along with Willie Mays and Mickey Mantle, the "Duke" battled throughout the 1950's for New York supremacy at the centerfield position. One of the few players in baseball history to have hit 40 or more home runs in 5 consecutive seasons and the first National Leaguer to accomplish that feat, Snider was adored by a seemingly infinite number of Brooklyn Dodger fanatics with his obscure collectibles highly sought after in the hobby. Few of those keepsakes could possibly be considered as momentous as this seldom-surfacing 1949 Type 1 photo that was ultimately selected as the image to place on Snider's legendary 1949 Bowman rookie card!
