Super Scarce 1927 Pittsburgh Pirates Team Photo - PSA Type I Underwood & Underwood Photo – Measures 8" x 10" – PSA Type 1 Encapsulation & PSA/DDNA LOA

Although the 1927 Pittsburgh Pirates were swept by the mighty Yankees in the 1927 World Series, it doesn't take away from the formidable season they put together to claim the National League pennant. Claiming their second pennant in three years, the Pirates finished first in the N.L. via their imposing 94-60 record that bested their St. Louis rivals by a game and a half. Only two years earlier, they had claimed their second World Championship when they beat the Senators in a tightly contested 7-game contest. Unfortunately, while the mighty Yanks proved too much too handle in the 1927 Fall Classic, it did not detract from their truly formidable squad that included the five following future Hall of Famers: 1927 MVP Paul Waner, Lloyd Waner, Kiki Cuyler; Pie Traynor and 20-year old rookie Joe Cronin (who played in only 12 games).

This extremely scarce 1927 Pittsburgh Pirates team photo includes all five of those aforementioned Cooperstown Inductees as well as Hall of Fame team owner Barney Dreyfuss! While we have seen many 1927 original Yankees team photos, this is the first PSA Type 1 Pittsburgh Pirates one we have come across with this ultra-scarce keepsake revealing outstanding aesthetics. Its only flaws appear to be a diminutive upper right corner chip and some stray wrinkles barely visible to the naked eye. The verso depicts the renowned Underwood & Underwood credit stamp as well as a significant caption listing every player including the previously mentioned 6 Hall of Famers. Interestingly enough, it would be a drawn out 33-years before the Pirates would capture their next N.L. Pennant, when the 1960 club went on to ironically best the Yankees in the 1960 World Series via Bill Mazeroski's legendary game#7 walk-off homer! – PSA Type 1 Encapsulation & PSA/DNA LOA
