Extraordinary Paul Krichell 1947 World Series Ring w/World Series Program – Chief Yankees Scout for 37 Years!
Long-time New York Yankees Chief Scout Paul Krichell's legacy will forever "echo for eternity", with this 37-year Yankee employee responsible for signing none other than the immortal Henry Louis Gehrig! His Yankees tenure began in 1920 and it was in the Spring of 1923, that he met up with the incomparable "Iron Horse" for the very first time. The incomparable legacy of Henry Louis Gehrig can be traced back to his Columbia University playing days where Gehrig dominated as both a standout pitcher and slugging first baseman. It was on April 28, 1923 that Gehrig truly captured the undivided attention of Krichell when he blasted one of the longest home runs ever seen at Columbia's South Field; a mammoth 450-foot blast that sailed completely out of the ball park. One of many Lou Gehrig wallops, it was that particular round tripper that "sealed the deal" for Krichell as the prominent scout signed Gehrig to a Yankee contract only two days later. Krichell would remain a Yankees scout for a staggering 37 years until he passed away in 1957 at the age of 74.

Regarded as one of baseball's greatest all-time scouts, aside from Gehrig, Krichell is credited with signing legendary Hall of Famers such as Tony Lazzeri, Phil Rizzuto, and Whitey Ford to professional contracts, and he even discovered Hank Greenberg who ultimately chose to go to the Detroit Tigers since the Yankees already had Gehrig as their everyday first sacker. His uncanny judge of raw baseball, talent ultimately inspired Yankees Hall of Fame general manager Ed Barrow to call Krichell "the best judge of baseball players he ever saw." It is therefore with great pleasure that Memory Lane Inc. now presents Paul Krichell's 1947 World Championship ring, also accompanied by a 1947 Fall Classic program. Incredible to say the least, this 14K gold offering includes a classic round diamond as its center stone, affixed within a baseball diamond-like motif. Each shank reveals identical designs including the American Eagle (wings spread wide) as well as the "New York" team name and several "1947" engravings. Most significantly, the interior band of this appx. 12 re-sized ring that weighs appx. 27.9 grams and includes engravings for both Krichell's name (in script) and the illustrious jewelry manufacturer Dieges & Clust. As expected for any 73-year old ring, it reflects substantial wear, including some moderate loss to the raised designs. Yet, considering its significant personal use, it still presents itself in "VG+" condition, with its unique stature as Paul Krichell's personal ring serving as a direct link to the New York Yankees 1947 World Series victory over their cross-town rival Brooklyn Dodgers. The 1947 Fall Classic victory would suffice as the New York Yankees 11th world championship, with nobody realizing at that juncture this "best of the best" baseball club would continue to steamroll ahead and claim 16 additional titles for an unprecedented 27 championships!
