(LOT 7)
Jimmie Foxx Signed Boston Red Sox "Batting" Image - Original Type I George Burke Photo – Measures Approx. 8" x 10" – PSA/DNA Encapsulated

Jimmie Foxx's illustrious 20-year Hall of Fame career was spent primarily with the Philadelphia Athletics and Boston Red Sox, with Foxx donning a BoSox uniform for 7 seasons from 1936 – 1942. His incredible batting prowess and majestic long balls easily place him as one of the greatest (and strongest) right-handed batters to ever grace a batter's box, with many historians placing him right alongside Hank Aaron and Rogers Hornsby. While original Type 1 photos of "Double X" are highly coveted within the memorabilia circuit, autographed batting images of the immortal Foxx are much tougher to locate, justifying why this outstanding George Burke circa 1930's/early 1940's scripted Foxx offering truly stands as a world-class artifact. PSA/DNA has authenticated the bold black fountain pen Foxx salutation for ironclad authenticity, with the photo gifted to his friend Patsy and reading as follows: "Patsy – You are a swell guy – the best to you - Jimmie Foxx." The elaborate signature is affixed beneath Foxx's powerful arms as he prepares to blast another baseball towards the fences.

Presenting itself in conservative "8" strength, the bold personalization and accompany Jimmie Foxx autograph literally jumps off the photo, only slightly downgraded due to some negligible ink blotching around the word "swell." Additionally, the central Foxx image is extremely vivid, with several left corner creases as well as soiling along the upper left quadrant easily eluding the classic batting pose. As a final superlative, the verso reflects the critical "Geo. Burke" credit stamp along the lower right edge, validating it as being a bona-fide Type 1 Burke image. Regarded as one of the greatest right-handed hitters in baseball history, Hall of Famer Jimmie Foxx tested the confines of any ballpark with his sheer power that could equally match or surpass any 21st century steroid user. Some of his remarkable career highlights include 534 round-trippers, 1,922 runs batted in, a .325 batting average and an unfathomable 1.038 OPS. If that isn't enough, along with the iconic Lou Gehrig, the "Beast" established a Major League record of driving in 100 or more runs for an amazing 13 consecutive seasons, the final exclamation point for one of our National Pastime's greatest all-time players!
